The Rhodesian Ridgeback of today became famous because of its hunting qualities which it demonstrated successfully more than 100 years ago with professional and big game hunters in East and South Africa. In Europe the Ridgeback is an approved hunting companion. Various reasons have led the Ridgeback to not gaining the same hunting/working class recognition in Germany.
